Worthing Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul McKay as our first Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) — a newly established role, appointed by the Club’s board.
The role is aimed at enhancing supporter representation in the development of club strategy and policy, specifically on matters that directly impact fans.
Chairman Barry Hunter commented: “Our supporters are at the very heart of Worthing Football Club and this new role will provide them with a formal gateway to the Club’s leadership, bringing fan perspectives formally into boardroom discussions and relevant decision-making.
“It’s no secret that the Club is on a steep trajectory and is going through structural transformation on and off the pitch. This is to ensure, as part of our National League ready strategy, our organisation is fit for purpose, notwithstanding the future obligations of National League clubs to the impending Football Governance Bill.
“Paul is a perfect fit for the role. He holds a 10-year season ticket, has an excellent network across the various club’s supporter groups, is highly personable and has enjoyed a long and distinguished career at senior levels in local government particularly around policy and strategy.”
Speaking on his appointment, Paul McKay said: “It’s a real honour to be appointed as Worthing Football Club’s first Supporter Liaison Officer.”
“As a supporter myself, I know just how much this Club means to so many people. I’m looking forward to representing the Club’s board and providing supporters the opportunity to formally share their views on matters which affect them directly and where appropriate, help translate that into effective policy.”
