The history of matches between Worthing and Bath City is quite short, only starting after our promotion to National League South. There are two main reasons for this;
The first is geography; until our promotion, we had always participated in league competitions based in the south-east and we did not usually progress far enough in the FA Cup to play clubs from outside of our area. The second is the fact that, for a large part of our history, we were an amateur side and Bath were professional, so we would not have met in the national amateur competitions.
Six of our seven encounters have been played in National League South, with one FA Cup tie. A strange statistical quirk is that we have always scored twice in these matches.
The first meeting was played in the afternoon of what was nominally a “working” day, taking place in Somerset on 29th December 2022. This finished 2-2, with our goals being scored by Ollie Pearce and Ollie Starkey. There has been one other 2-2 draw, and this match was played on a Sunday (24th March 2024) at Woodside Road, it being the first time that one of our matches had been shown on live TV.
The return fixture in our first NLS season saw Bath win 3-2, this being their only victory over us so far. We have secured three 2-0 wins, the first being that FA Cup tie, a fourth qualifying round match that was played on 14th October 2023. We followed this up by winning by the same score in Bath a fortnight later, and the away league fixture last season also finished 2-0 in our favour.
In the most recent meeting, on 4th March of this year, Jack Spong and Danny Cashman scored in our 2-1 home victory.
Our full record against these opponents is as follows:

National League South | 6 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 12 | 8 |
