Having travelled to the Angel Ground on 13th October 1951, for an FA Cup tie that was our first meeting with Tonbridge, we suffered an 11-1 defeat.
Dave Linbery scored the consolation goal in what was, unsurprisingly, our largest margin of defeat against these opponents.
This result was only one goal away from our record defeat in the FA Cup, which had come just down the road 41 years earlier in a 12-1 thrashing at Tunbridge Wells Rangers.
Our next encounter, in 1979, and the following one four years later, both ended 3-2 to us. The first, an FA Cup tie, was our last visit to the Angel; the other, an FA Trophy match against the newly-renamed Tonbridge AFC, was the first time that we had played at Langmead Stadium, our opponents’ current home.
22nd February 2005 was the first league meeting, a home Isthmian League Premier Division fixture
that we won 4-0, which is our largest winning margin in these matches. By this time, our opponents had adopted their current name of Tonbridge Angels.
We met once in the Isthmian League Cup, drawing 1-1 at Woodside Road before winning the penalty shoot-out 3-2.
Our one meeting in a friendly came in the 2021/22 pre-season, and the following season we played each other in the National League South for the first time.
The most recent match, in Kent on 8th February this year, finished 2-1 in our favour, with Liam Nash
and Tommy Willard netting our goals.
