RHYLE OVENDEN (Midfielder)
A former Wales under-17’s and under-19’s international who qualifies through his Welsh Grandfather. Began at The Albion but was released at sixteen and moved on to Chesterfield. After an unsuccessful time with The Spireites he was training with Eastbourne Borough, before landing a two week trial at Watford which turned into a professional contract offer in November 2015. Won the league championship with The Hornets under -18’s, moved up to the under-21’s/23’s and subsequently signed a one-year extension last Summer. Briefly wore the red of Whitehawk last season and debuted for us against Hendon on 21st October. Scored the winner in our first three-point-haul at Needham Market in early November.
Midfielder Rhyle Ovenden hopes to climb the football ladder with Worthing after returning to action on Saturday following a frustrating ten months on the sidelines.
Despite twelve of Worthing's fourteen players being teenagers, the home team still eased to an emphatic victory over their high-profile visitors.
