Having been given a bye in the first round, The Reds produced two convincing performances in the second round and quarter-final, overcoming AFC Littlehampton and Bexhill United 4-1 and 6-1 respectively. With their league form faultless so far, Worthing will look to carry this momentum into another round of the cup with a place in the final against either Herne Bay or Lewes Foundation at stake.

Phoenix will provide a tough test for Michelle Lawrence’s side, and with the two teams facing each other in the league in a fortnight’s time, this semi-final will provide Worthing with a different test compared to the first league meeting back in December where goals from Sam Mee, Gemma Worsfold and Hannah Hewlett secured a 3-0 win for the Reds at Woodside Road.

In contrast to their stuttering league form, The Bexleyheath based side have cruised through their previous rounds in the cup having triumphed 4-1 at Lancing Ladies in Round 1, before earning successive home victories over Newhaven and Hassocks to earn a semi-final berth.

Worthing will be without forwards Sara Tubby and Beth Kincaid for Sunday’s match as they continue to work their way back from injury. Aside from these absentees, The Reds will have a fully fit squad available for their trip to the capital.

Kick-off in Bexleyheath is 3:00pm but there will be a morning pitch inspection. For the latest updates, follow the team on twitter @WorthingFCWomen.
