All seven summer signings featured in the match against Hassocks and there were seven different names on the scoresheet; Beth Kincaid, Caroline Hodgson, Gemma Worsfold, Hannah Hewlett, Rebecca Thompson-Agbro (2), Sam Mee (2) and Sara Tubby.
Adding to her preseason goal tally, Captain Hewlett was pleased with the intensity shown in the game saying, “of course, there’s a sense of unfinished business in the league from last season but we are not complacent. We know every team will pose a challenge this season and every team will want to be the first to end our unbeaten league run. Going a few goals up, it would have been easy to switch off, but we kept the intensity right up until the final whistle”.
Worthing and Steyning met during preseason, and Hewlett knows it will not be an easy match.
“Steyning have made a number of new signings since we met in preseason so we will need to be at our best if we are to progress. We have a great squad of players and management team around us. We will be prepared, focused, and hopefully the result will follow”.
The match takes place at The Birchwood Ground, Steyning and kicks-off at 2pm. Spectators are welcome, and entry is free.
