DAVID AJIBOYE (Forward)
Marked his second spell at the club with goals in successive pre-season matches against Wimborne Town, Gillingham under-23’s and Guernsey, securing The Mike Thomas Memorial Trophy in the process, with the third of those strikes. Originally with Brighton & Hove Albion up to and including their under-23’s and made his last appearance for them at The Amex in The Sussex Senior Cup Final victory over Crawley Town back in May. Spent the last few months of 2017/18 with the second string of Millwall. Had a brief, temporary period at Woodside Road two seasons ago when a February debut at Folkestone Invicta was followed by home games with Enfield Town and Harrow Borough. A player with tremendous pace and quick feet, he’s reunited at The Bibby Financial Services Stadium with his former youth team coach from The Albion, “Hinsh”. Bagged twice in a minute at Carshalton Athletic in only his second game of the current campaign.
With both teams fielding much-changed line-ups, it was the visitors who went through to a home tie in the next round of The Velocity Trophy, with either Tonbridge Angels or Sevenoaks Town.
Manager Adam Hinshelwood was pleased with his side's performance on Wednesday evening as the Mackerel Men secured a place in the Velocity Trophy 2nd round after a narrow 1-0 win over Leatherhead.
