The two sides were meeting for the second time in the space of two weeks. Following a 1-0 win at King George’s Field in The Velocity Trophy earlier this month, the Rebels would go on to win again, this time in more routine style.

A youthful side was fielded that day. However, this evening Worthing went full strength in a big game at the top of the table. The Rebels dominated early on and were unfortunate not to be ahead within the opening 20’ minutes. Eventually, the hosts did find the breakthrough. Capitalising on the counter, Callum Kealy was on call to divert home in the 41st minute from close range.

Full of confidence, Kealy extended the advantage in first half stoppage time; blasting home a venomous effort, beyond Sanneh.

Kingstonian came out of the blocks with intent at the start of the second half. Such intent translated into aggression, as tempers flared and four yellows were handed out across both sides in the opening 20’ minutes of the half.

Worthing’s Jasper Pattenden was one of the four players to be booked, however he responded in style. Bursting into the 6-yard box in the 68th Pattenden made it three; rounding off a brilliant team move.

Kingstonian’s night got even worse just 10’ minutes later. Full back Jerry Puemo was sent his marching orders, for a second bookable offence.

Reece Myles-Meekums would’ve felt hard done by not to start the game, after coming off the bench to score on Saturday afternoon at Merstham. Meekums did get his chance again from the bench this evening and it paid off, as he made it four helping Worthing; cruise to a comfortable victory over their fellow promotion challengers
