The Rebels started the game with a real spring in their step, eager to bounce back after a disappointing mid-week result in The Velocity Trophy.

Early dominance paid off, as Jasper Pattenden headed the hosts into an early lead; following a delicate volleyed cross from Davide Rodari.

Pattenden’s goal was the only goal of the opening 45’ minutes. However, Worthing had plenty of chances to extend their narrow advantage. Callum Kealy twice had efforts from close-range deflected away for corners, while top score Ollie Pearce came close too.

The Mackerel Men would go on to extend their lead early in the second half. After wonderful wing-play from James Beresford, the ball found Rodari; who arrived at the back stick on queue to tap home with ease.

The second goal inspired Worthing to go for more. After a free-flowing move, Rodari passed home his second, as his composed effort kissed the post on its way past a helpless Nathan McDonald in the 65th minute.

Enfield’s struggles deepened in the 77th minute, as Percy Kiangebeni was sent his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

In the end, Worthing cruised to all three points; seeing the game out with ease.
