Biography

An early Christmas present who was unwrapped at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium in late December back in ‘24 (not ‘63.) Won two of his first three games in a Worthing shirt and also kept two clean sheets. Slipped effortlessly into the back four after moving (further) south from divisional rivals St Albans City.

No fool, (born 1st April) Joe started out at his home town team, Portsmouth. Despite his release in 2006, he went on to make his professional debut for another South Coast club, Bournemouth upon his move to Dorset barely a year later. Making history at the Vitality Stadium when he became their youngest-ever goalscorer, courtesy of a late, late winner at Swansea City. Another fifty-plus Cherries appearances followed, interspersed with loan periods at Eastbourne Borough, Aldershot Town and Eastleigh; joining the latter permanently in 2015.

A return to the pro ranks wasn’t far away and Bristol Rovers got their man at the beginning of 2017, for a club-record fee. Second stints at both Bromley – where he helped to set-up the match-clincher against highly-fancied Wrexham in 2022’s FA Trophy Final at Wembley – and Aldershot were preceded by spell number two at Eastleigh, prior to a short stay at Farnborough before signing for St Albans at the start of 2023.

An International with Wales, thanks to his Welsh Mother, ‘Parts’ has collected caps for the U17s (2), U19s (11) and U21s (8). Wearing the Captain’s armband for many of those matches and notching twice for the U19s too.
