“I started in about 2015. Like most dads it was because my middle kid was playing football for Worthing United and they needed a manager, so I got roped into it from there.

“We had one kid who went on to play for Brighton, he was a brilliant talent.

“One of my sons got selected for Worthing. I don’t know how I got to be the manager really! Aarran Racine was the head of Youth Development at the time and he phoned me up to ask for a chat. I came down and he said they needed someone to manage here.

“Hinsh and Aarran, and now Nathan and Cam, lead some really high quality training sessions. My job is to look after them, organise them, make sure they’re all okay. It’s been a good way to develop my understanding of football, being in and around the club.

“It’s a different level. You see things that Hinsh points out and you just think ‘wow’, I would have never noticed that"

“It’s a great opportunity for my son in this set up, he loves it here. A lot of the boys we’ve got are playing to a really high level.

“The difficult thing is at the end of the season when some of the boys get released, that’s never a nice thing to go through, but we’ve kept on the bulk of last year’s squad in my age group.

“They’re developing really well, it’s enjoyable and it’s all opened my eyes about what football can be about.
