Worthing Football Club take a break from league action with a trip to Suffolk to face Leiston in the FA Trophy third qualifying round this afternoon.
The Mackerel Men go into the fixture top of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier Division, having extended their lead to three points on Tuesday evening with a 2-1 win over Potters Bar Town.
Meanwhile, hosts Leiston sit bottom of the Southern League Central Division and are yet to win register a league win thus far in the campaign, most recently losing 1-0 to St Ives Town on Tuesday night.
Despite their poor start to their league campaign, the Suffolk side reached the fourth and final qualifying round of the FA Cup, losing 3-2 to Barnet having led the National League side 2-0.
The Blues also used to compete in the Isthmian League as recent as the 2017-2018 season before their transferal to the Southern League central – a campaign which saw them achieve a playoff finish, losing to eventual winners Dulwich Hamlet in the semi-final.
That season also contained the last two meetings between the sides:
In November 2017, the sides battled out a 1-1 stalemate at Woodside Road, before Worthing edged a five-goal thriller 3-2 in the return fixture in February 2018.
The clubs have also met in the FA Trophy back in October 2015 in the first qualifying round which saw Leiston run out 3-1 winners at Woodside Road.
